CONTRA	1988	FC	This port was released on the Famicom a year after the arcade version. It featured larger maps and more variety in enemy attacks making for a more challenging experience. The overall presentation of the game is also improved with the addition of cutscenes between stages.
SUPER OLD	1990	NES	This section is the home console port of the arcade game Super Contra. Considering the many changes and additions to the game from the arcade reincarnation, it could even be called a remake. Of particular note is the addition of completely new stages where unknown dangers await the player.
CONTRA THE ALIEN WARS	1992	SNES	This installment is Contra reborn, built from the ground up specifically for the SNES. Rotating, zooming in and out, layers of SNES hardware capabilities are put to good use here, and the top-down viewing stages let players explore the level by rotating the background. Many pillars of the Contra series appear in this game for the first time, such as taking walls and ceilings and switching weapons.
SUPER PROBOTECTOR ALIEN REBELS	1992	SNES	This installment is the European version of Contra III: The Alien Wars. In this version, Bill and Lance have been replaced with combat robots, the Proboctors, warriors and enemy soldiers have also been changed into robots. At the time, there was a lot of anticipation and excitement from the players surrounding this part. This is understandable; Not only are Sega consoles very popular in the European gaming market, but this is the first release of the Probotector series to be available on the Mega Drive.
