Windows Nashville

We can also mention Windows Nashville, an operating system that was originally created for Windows 98, and based on Windows 95. In fact, Windows Nashville is planned to be the second system in a suite of Windows 9x versions, all based on the 4.10 kernel. Such a project began during 1995 and was due to launch the following year. But it eventually faded into oblivion, although parts of it became part of Windows 98, among other projects.

Windows Neptune

Surely many of you also remember at the same time Windows NTone of Microsoft’s major changes. When talking about Neptunewe are talking about the first version of Windows NT for personal users. Development process of Windows Neptune was made from 1998 to 1999, and its launch was planned for 2001. But this unfortunately did not have good results, because at the beginning of 2000 this Windows was canceled and it participated in the Odyssey project, all this is the foundation of Windows XP mythology that we have used before.

Windows Odyssey

For those of you who don’t know, Windows Odyssey laid the foundation for development Windows 2000. Development process of Windows Odyssey was made in parallel with Windows Neptune, but both were eventually canceled. Windows Blackcomb

Windows “Blackcomb” was initially announced as the successor to Windows XP. As Microsoft was finalizing the feature set, they realized they could not achieve the expected release date and started working on a smaller release, which was Windows Longhorn. This delayed Blackcomb until around 2003 or 2004. By mid-2003, Longhorn had acquired many of the features originally intended for Blackcomb.

When Microsoft announced the cancellation of Longhorn Server at the end of 2002, the name Blackcomb also passed away forever.

There is no Preview (trial experience) written under the name Windows “Blackcomb”. In early 2006, as Windows Vista was being finalized, Blackcomb was renamed Vienna with the intention of introducing a new set of codenames derived from famous cities and locations. Finally, the project is canceled and replaced with a new project code named “Windows 7”.
