RARLAB, the developer of WinRAR and the RAR compression format, has released WinRAR 5.90 official version. The new version introduces many new features, improvements, and bug fixes. The final version of WinRAR, WinRAR 5.80, was released in December 2019. WinRAR 5.90 Final was released with many performance improvements and bug fixes for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android.

Select Menu Help > About WinRAR to check the installed version before and after installation to see if it has the latest version.
New Features WinRAR 5.90 Final
The update of new features and bug fixes of Winrar 5.90 is quite long, here is a summary of the outstanding features of this new version:
– Improved RAR compression on systems with processors with 16 Cores or more.
– The maximum number of threads used by WinRAR has been increased from 32 to 64. The -mt command tool accepts values between 1 and 64.
– New “threads” input field in settings replaces multithreading parameters. It accepts values from 1 to the number of CPU cores.
– When browsing compressed content, the packing and unpacking sizes are now displayed.
– RAR5 archive repair performance has been improved.
– A progress bar and a cancel button are displayed if reading the archive takes time.
– Some windows, compressed and unzipped can be resized.
– Several bugs are fixed in the new version besides including a fix to show “Recovery Record is corrupted” when it is not. Although the message did not affect the successful repair operation, it did irritate users.
