What are breadcrumbs and why are they useful?
Breadcrumbs are paths to your current location in File Explorer. For example, the path This PC > Windows (C:) > Program Files (x86) is an example of breadcrumbs. Instead of using keyboard shortcuts or right-click menus, you can drag and drop files and folders between breadcrumbs easily.

System requirements
The feature to move files and folders between breadcrumbs in the File Explorer address bar is currently in development and was first introduced in Windows Insiders version 22635.3420 of the Beta Channel. This feature was later removed and re-added in subsequent versions.
Recently, this feature was also available on version 26241 of Canary Channel. So, if you are using the latest version of Beta Channel or Canary Channel, you can use this feature.

Instructions for use
To move files and folders between breadcrumbs, you just need to do the following steps:
Step 1: Drag the file/folder you want to move.
Step 2: Drop the file/folder into one of the breadcrumbs folders in the address bar (when you see the “Move to” message).
You can move files/folders to any location on the breadcrumbs (as long as it's in the same drive).

Note:
- This feature only allows moving (cut and pasting) files and folders, does not support copying between breadcrumbs.
- If you drag a folder from breadcrumbs and drop it into the current folder, you will create a shortcut to that folder.
How to create shortcuts on the navigation bar
Besides moving files between breadcrumbs, File Explorer has also been updated with the ability to drag and drop folders from breadcrumbs to the left navigation pane. The method is similar to above, just drag the folder from the breadcrumbs and drop it into the navigation box when you see the “Link” message.
These improvements show that Microsoft is making efforts to perfect File Explorer on Windows 11, providing a better user experience.
