Step 4: Click Enabled and click Apply then OK.
To re-enable Windows Copilot, follow the same steps and select Not configured or Disabled. Then, click Apply and OK.
After you apply this policy, the Copilot button will disappear from the Taskbar and the Copilot option will also disappear from the Settings app. You do not need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Method 2: Delete Copilot using Registry Editor
You can apply this method to any version of Windows 11, including Windows 11 Home Edition. However, you need to note that modifying the Registry can cause serious system errors if you are not careful. Therefore, you should back up the Windows Registry or create a restore point before performing these steps:
Step 1: Open the Registry Editor by entering regedit in the Windows search box or going to Run command and pressing Enter.
Step 2: In Registry Editor, copy-paste the following path or navigate to the following location:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows
Step 3: Find the WindowsCopilot folder and double-click it.
If it is missing, you need to create it manually by right-clicking on the Windows folder in the left pane, clicking New and selecting Key.
Next, rename the new folder to WindowsCopilot.
Step 4: With the WindowsCopilot folder selected, right-click in the right pane and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Step 5: Name the new Windows Registry DWORD TurnOffWindowsCopilot. Then, double-click it and set its value to 1, then press OK.
After making modifications in Registry Editor, restart the computer. You will see Copilot removed from your device completely and the Copilot option will no longer be available in the Settings app and on the Taskbar.
To re-enable Copilot, simply delete the TurnOffWindowsCopilot DWORD or change its Value Data to 0, then restart the computer.
