What's special about the AI Overviews feature?
During Google's annual I/O Developer Conference, the company focused heavily on AI. They revealed there will be new AI-powered tools, AI enhancements to existing services and also new AI models for Gemini.
One of the features currently rolled out in the US is AI Overviews. Depending on the search content, this feature will provide AI-generated responses right at the top of the results page, while traditional links will move down.

AI Overviews collects information from multiple sources and uses multi-step reasoning powered by Gemini to bring information about a topic. This feature is intended to compete with AI-powered chatbots like ChatGPT or OpenAI's Perplexity AI, helping to provide shorter, more to-the-point answers than traditional Google Search.
