How to use the RANK function in Excel
1. If the third parameter is omitted (or 0), Excel will rank the largest number first, the second largest number second, etc.
Note: when we drag the RANK function down, the absolute reference ($A$1:$A$9) stays the same, while the relative reference (A1) changes to A2, A3, A4,…
2. If the third parameter is 1, Excel will rank the smallest number first, the smallest number second, etc.
3. The Excel RANK.AVG function returns the average rank if multiple numbers have the same rank.
