Even though YouTube is still the leading video social network on the internet, you might not think much about customizing it. But whether you're a regular user or watch videos every day, there are ways to tweak YouTube URLs, such as turning videos into GIFs.

9 YouTube URL tricks you should know
1. Link to any part of the video
Normally, when you copy a YouTube video link and open it, it starts from the beginning. But if you want to show someone a certain part of the video or skip a lengthy intro, you can add a time to the URL to start watching the video at that point.
You can do this in a number of ways. By manually adding &t = YmXXs to the end of the video URL, starting with Y minutes and XX seconds. You can omit minutes or just use seconds, for example, 90 seconds is one and a half minutes.
For example, this video:
youtube.com/watch?v=Tt5ShaI5hW8
You can share the video in two minutes using this URL:
youtube.com/watch?v=Tt5ShaI5hW8&t=120
If you don't want to use the manual method, pause the video at the point you want to share, then right-click and select Copy video URL at current time.
2. Loop video infinitely
YouTube is a great place to listen to music you can't find elsewhere, such as EDM music for studying. If you like a song and want to listen to it over and over again, you can add a repeater after youtube in the URL.
This will open the video at YouTubeRepeater.comwhich will loop the video for you.
So let's change this URL:
youtube.com/watch?v=shibvkpyb8E
To repeat Video:
youtuberepeater.com/watch?v=shibvkpyb8E
Using the options below videos on the new page, you can change the start or end time for the video, if desired.
Although I wanted to highlight the URL hacking method, you can also do this right on YouTube. Just right click on the YouTube video and enable Loop to continue playing the video.
3. Ignore age restrictions
YouTube has age restrictions on some videos flagged as containing adult content. Even if you don't have a YouTube account or don't want to sign in, you can do a little trick to skip signing in.
Get the URL of a restricted video:
youtube.com/watch?v=wvZ6nB3cl1w
Now add nsfw in front of the youtube part in the link, like below:
nsfwyoutube.com/watch?v=wvZ6nB3cl1w
4. Skip the introduction
Similar to the URL wizard that allows you to choose the start time of your video, you can also choose to skip a certain number of seconds at the start of the video. You cannot specify minutes this way, so use 90 (seconds) for one and a half minutes.
So to skip the first 30 seconds of this video:
youtube.com/watch?v=M03bTkQxVUg
More &start=30 at the end of the URL:
youtube.com/watch?v=M03bTkQxVUg&start=30
This method is similar to method 1, but is a bit faster and doesn't require you to remember a certain timestamp.
5. Request a custom URL
If you have your own YouTube channel and meet certain requirements, you can set a vanity URL for your page. This is much easier to remember than random strings of letters, and easier to link to on social networks and other websites.
To get a custom URL, your channel needs to meet the following criteria:
- Have at least 100 subscribers
- At least 30 days old
- Has uploaded profile photo and channel art
If you meet these requirements, visit YouTube Studio by clicking your profile picture at the top right of YouTube and selecting YouTube Studio. On the left menu, click Customizationthen Basic info at top.
On this page, below Channel URL, you'll see your channel's normal URL as well as a field to set a custom URL, if you're eligible. Use this tool to choose vanity URLs for your channel.
You can only have one custom URL at a time. If you already have one, you cannot change it, but you are allowed to delete your current URL and create a new one, if available. Youtube only allows you to change your URL three times per year, so don't change it too often.
Once your custom URL is set up, anyone can access it youtube.com/[YourCustomURL[YourCustomURL]to enter your channel.
6. Go straight to the YouTube Subscribe page
Many times, the suggestions given by YouTube are not helpful. Whether your recommendations are filled with strange content or your homepage contains videos you're not interested in, you can better customize yourYouTube homepage.
Once you're signed in, try changing your YouTube bookmarks from your main home page to your subscriptions page using this URL:
youtube.com/feed/subscriptions
This lets you watch the latest videos from channels you subscribe to, so you don't miss out on any of their new content. Therefore, you control what you see, instead of YouTube deciding for you.
7. Get the thumbnail of any video
Usually when searching for images on Google to see images from YouTube videos, there is usually a title of maxresdefault. With URL customization, you can easily view high-quality thumbnails for any YouTube video (if available) by visiting the following URL:
img.youtube.com/vi/[VideoID]/maxresdefault.jpg
Replace [VideoID] in text after v= at the end of a YouTube video. To see the thumbnail for this video:

Then you need to visit this link:

8. Create GIFs from YouTube Videos
Found a YouTube video with a fun moment to make a GIF of? You can easily create an animated GIF from any part of a video by adding the gif before the YouTube link.
So to edit this video into a GIF:

You need to change the URL to:
gifyoutube.com/watch?v=gy1B3agGNxw
You will be brought gifs.com, where you can add multiple effects and crop the GIF to your liking. Once done, share the GIF to social networks with an easy link or download it for safe keeping.
Note that particularly long videos will not work with this service.
9. Mix music from YouTube videos
This isn't a real URL customization trick, as you can't access it directly from YouTube. However, it still uses the YouTube URL, so I've included it in this list. Go to YouTube DJ and you can add two YouTube URLs to mix music together. Use the controls to mix different parts of the song, and adjust the fade and speed as you see fit.
