Currently, Zalo has made a move to start tightening the feature of free users. Specifically, now in the free account, you can only make friends with 1,000 contacts instead of unlimited as before. As far as I know, it won’t be until August 1 for Zalo to start tightening the feature, but it seems they want to let users experience this soon. So, if you don’t like Zalo, you can try 4 Chat applications to replace Zalo below:

Top 4 Chat applications to replace Zalo
1. Telegram
Telegram is a messaging application that is too familiar to Vietnamese users. Especially useful for those who stay up late. I find Telegram very convenient, compact, storage and message finding feature is very good. Currently, I am gradually switching to using Telegram for work purposes. Telegram is also famous for the highest level of security available today.
Unlike Zalo, when launching the Telegram Premium feature, the previous features of the free version are still used normally. If you upgrade to Telegram Premium will be updated with dozens of other interesting features.
Currently Telegram is used by a lot of office users around the world, and Ad is also using Telegram as the main messaging application instead of Zalo as before.
2. Signal
Signal is also another good secure messaging application that can replace Zalo at this time. It uses end-to-end security by default, has a privacy policy, and uses an encryption protocol that is highly appreciated by many experts. You can send anonymous messages without even Signal’s servers knowing who the sender is, and users can blur their own faces in any uploaded images.
Telegram and Signal are both highly secure messaging apps, but there is a slight difference between the two. So you have to decide carefully when choosing to use one of these two applications. For more differences of Signal and Telegram then you can read the article this.
3. Messenger
Of course indispensable in this list is Messenger. This is a very popular application with a lot of people in Vietnam. Almost everyone has Facebook and Messenger accounts to chat with friends. Although Zalo was voted as the most favorite application, it also has many problems such as file storage, login on multiple devices.
The downside of Messenger is that it is sometimes slow to load due to the Internet, but I see that Messenger’s features are more than Zalo’s.
In addition, you can also do a lot of other games on Messenger like creating Status here.
4. Skype
A long-standing application of Microsoft and used by many students and office workers. Skype has Web and App platforms. Because it syncs with Microsoft and Teams products, many companies have designated it as their primary communication app. Personally, when working with some partners, they also require contact via Skype, so on my phone or computer, I also have this application pre-installed.
If you are abroad, you can top up Credit to make phone calls (call other people’s SIMs) at a relatively cheap price (depending on the country).
