How to transfer Sticky Notes from Windows 7 to Windows 10
If you're using Windows 7 or Windows 8 and planning to move to Windows 10, you may want to transfer the contents of your Sticky Notes on Windows 7 to Windows 10. Meanwhile, Sticky Notes on Windows 7 saves data in .snt files, while Windows 10 saves it in .sqlite files. This article will guide you to transfer data in .snt files to .sqlite. Thus, you will be able to save the content in Windows 7 Notes to Windows 10.
Convert StickyNotes.snt to plum.sqlite
To backup Stick Notes content from Win 7 to Win 10, you need to convert StickyNotes.snt luxurious plum.sqlite into Sticky Notes by doing the following:
On Windows 10, close the Sticky Notes app if it is open.
Then open Settings > Apps > Sticky Notes > Advanced Options. Tap the Reset button. The app will be reset to default and all data will be deleted.
Do not open the application Sticky Notes, Instead, open File Explorer and go to the following folder. Or type this address into the RUN dialog box:
%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Legacy
Here you will see the file StickyNotes.snt rename it to ThresholdNotes.snt.
NOTE: If the Legacy folder doesn't exist, you'll need to create it here in the LocalState folder and then place the Windows 7 StickyNotes.snt file inside the Legacy folder.
You need to copy StickyNotes.snt on Windows 7 before you want to upgrade to Windows 10.
Now open the Sticky Notes application. The data in the .snt file will be automatically transferred to the new .sqlite. So you have successfully transferred Sticky Notes on Win 7 to Win 10.
Delete Sticky Notes and reinstall
You open PowerShell and execute the following commands:
Get-AppxPackage -Allusers | Select "PackageFullName"
The screen will list the software packages, including the package named: MicrosoftStickyNotes_xxxxxxxx
You enter the correct package name in the command below and Enter:
Remove-AppxPackage Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_3.0.118.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe
You need to write the Sticky Notes package name completely and accurately.
Restart your computer
Go to Microsoft Store, search for and install Sticky Notes
Once installed, do not open the app, instead go to:
C:\%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState
Create Folder Name Legacy if not see in there.
Now copy the file StickyNotes.snt into the Legacy folder and rename ThresholdNotes.snt.
