Microsoft just created a certificate program and resources to learn, study, and get certified, free of charge to all eligible students, starting with the basic Microsoft certifications through June 2023 .

How to get a free Microsoft certificate
Step 1: Sign up for Microsoft Learn
First, you need to log in Microsoft Learn and create student profiles. Then confirm you are still a student by using edu email or taking a student card.
Student Profiles are used to track your progress in learning activities, create and share content, accumulate points and achievements, use free Azure resources, and receive personalized recommendations.
Step 2: Select the Microsoft certificate you want
Microsoft certifications are based on industry analysis of specific jobs and roles and are continuously updated to reflect the latest technologies. These certifications can enhance your reputation, giving you an edge in the skills the business requires. Owning a Microsoft certification allows employers and businesses to recognize your talents and experience, and can help you build the skills you need to succeed. After receiving the certificate, you can also add it to your CV or Linked to increase your chances of passing interviews and making an impression in the eyes of employers.
Microsoft certifications start with the basic skills and move on to the more specialized skills you’ll need for industry positions. Microsoft certifications also cover technical topics from Azure to AI, to data analytics and cybersecurity.
Step 3: Confirm student status
Microsoft will provide free vouchers to eligible students so they can take the Fundamentals test for free.
The Microsoft Fundamentals Certification is a great place to start your certification journey. You just need to test your basic knowledge of the concepts and apply what you learn to Microsoft technologies (no experience required). The basics also give you a solid foundation for more advanced certifications.
