Hello everyone, today I will write this article to help you choose a laptop for engineering and graphics. Because our industry has to choose special machines that are not like other machines. There are two options for you that I will guide you to choose the right one.
FIRST: If you are not familiar with computer hardware
If you do not have knowledge about computer specifications and consider yourself blind and do not want to learn about technical specifications, then what to choose? Oh, this is true for all needs, not just graphics.
– Should have someone to go shopping with: For girls, I advise you to ask someone who knows about computers to go shopping with you, ask them to help you find the machine with the best choice, do they know how to check if the hardware and software are guaranteed? For example, ask me here, I am very enthusiastic with girls but not with boys.
– Which one should you buy that is commonly used and recommended by people in the industry? Because when it breaks, you can easily replace it. For example, construction workers are very familiar with the Dell Precision M4800, 7510, right?
Where to buy a reasonable machine?
+) If you have little money, don't buy a machine at the supermarket.
+) If you have a lot of money, don't buy a machine at the supermarket.
+) If you want to buy a computer to do graphics, don't go to the supermarket.
In my opinion, if you have little money, you should not buy a computer at supermarkets. The computers there are very expensive, and they give a lot of wrong advice. Because my friend also studies graphics, when you have more than 25 million, you should buy there and you should have knowledge about computers before buying. My friend there, for 20 million, still only received a U chip, which was clearly stated for heavy graphics. If it is not equipped with SSD or low RAM, you have to go somewhere else to install it because there is almost no support for installation.
If you have bought a new machine that is genuine, I advise you to buy it anywhere cheap, because when it breaks, you can take it to the company and have it repaired.
What if you buy a used machine?
+First, you buy at that store, see if the staff there are enthusiastic in consulting or not and what the service attitude is like there, then compare the warranty policy of that store with other used laptop stores.
+ Don't buy a machine that is too old (you should choose a CPU from the 4th generation or later) and as I said above, you should bring someone along so they can check it best because an old machine that you haven't researched will be very difficult to choose.
When should I buy a macbook?
Macbook looks very beautiful and luxurious, highly secure and optimizes its available software well. However, when you have If you play games, do 3D graphics or use a lot of software with high computational factors, you should not buy it, because when you buy it, you will receive an electric stove from the manufacturer Apple, quite convenient when you have both a computer and a stove to fry eggs and warm up when winter is coming.
And if you work in 2D, just buy it because the screen is so beautiful.
SECOND: You want to learn about hardware specifications
And now when you are the one who wants to learn the technical specifications to buy a laptop, I will help you choose specifically to buy the most suitable machine.
– To buy a good graphics machine, you should prepare the best over 10 million go because under 10 million we can still buy but the risk is very high because it is buying a very old machine. And I will give you the recommended configurations you should buy when you see the machine.
CPU: avoid U, Y chips if you don't know why there are dozens of articles online explaining.
Laptops with powerful CPUs that you have little money for: I 7- 4700MQ, i7-4800,4810,4900,4910MQ, i7 6700hq,… the bigger the better, the higher the clock speed, the better for rendering. I advise you not to buy i5 8th generation or lower even though it is HQ (i5 6300hq, i5 7300hq) because it is quite poor at multitasking, so if you do something heavy, it will weaken immediately, these are good for gaming.
For those of you with 20 million or more, you should choose at least i7-6820,6920hq i7-7700hq, Xeon E3-1505m, i7- 7820,7920hq, chips with suffix H from generation 8,9
RAM: 8gb is the minimum, because now reading newspapers, surfing the web and watching movies also requires 8gb ram. If you do PR for fun or are just starting out, 8gb ram is fine, but if you do a lot of editing, I recommend at least 16gb ram.
I recommend you not to buy AMD CPUs on laptops because their performance is not as stable as Intel's.
Storage Drive: RECOMMENDED CONFIGURATION FOR YOU is 256GB SSD and any HDD drive to store Japanese movies comfortably. If you have money, just install more. At least 128GB SSD is required and no SSD is not allowed.
Graphics card: for the level under 15 million, in my opinion, you should still buy a workstation laptop. Workstaion is still the best for both 2d and 3d graphics. Why do I still tell you to choose even though the GTX card sounds like it does adobe better than the Quadro card? Because of that price, you buy gaming machines with not very good quality. When you have 15 million or more, buy a gaming machine to do the new Adobe software suite, otherwise just buy a workstation.
The minimum quad card you should buy is k2100m,…
Geforce card recommends you to buy at least gtx 1050 4gb (960M is also fine but now it's weak)
Screen:
For those of you who intend to buy cheap gaming laptops to do pts or adobe graphics, I think you should not because the screens of these laptops are very bad, have a lot of color errors and very little color coverage. So for students, I think you should still buy a workstation to do 2d graphics because usually the old, cheap workstations have a color coverage of 72% (like the Dell Precision 7510, 5510 for example).
Buy a laptop for Rendering: No, guys, if you buy a thick machine, it's okay.
And below are some of my comments on the gaming laptops that you guys have been asking about a lot lately and whether they are worth buying or not.
Acer Nitro 5: Don't buy it, because this one has a really stupid heatsink design. It sounds like it has good heatsink design, but it doesn't have good heatsink design at all.
Lenovo L340: don't buy, this one has poor heat dissipation, even i5 is hot, let alone i7
GF63: Flimsy frame, only 1 cooling fan, very hot after long use
Dell e65430, m4700 (too old, don't buy)
Asus fx/504/505: Flimsy frame, poor cooling, flex keyboard.
And below are some laptops I recommend for you to consider buying for technical graphics (In my opinion)
Used machine or new:
-Dell precision M4800, HP Zbook g2, Think Pad W541 (this one is a bit old but acceptable), Dell gaming 7559,5577 around 15 million or less.
Dell Precision 7510,5510, HP zbook g3, Dell g7 7588, lenovo Legion y530, Dell G5, ThinkPad P50 (about 15-20 million)
Dell precision 7510(max option),5510(max option),7710 7520, 5520, dell g7 7790 (portable), Legion y540, Asus ROG g531, Predator Helios 300 (running 8th gen cpu), g5 5590,… Actually, with a budget of 20 million or more, you should try to choose high-end models from certain brands.
As for the price range of 30 million or more, I don't have much to say.
With this budget, I think you should build a PC to save more money.
With 30 million or a little more, there are many stores. already gave you i9 9900k and rtx 2060 configuration.
