What's special about PhoGPT?
PhoGPT is the first major language model developed specifically for the Vietnamese language and Vietnamese culture. PhoGPT can understand the semantics, context, and style of Vietnamese, as well as local variations, slang, and communication habits of Vietnamese people.
PhoGPT can also generate Vietnamese text naturally, creatively, and in accordance with the input. This is not only a large language model, but also a cultural language model, reflecting the diversity and richness of Vietnamese.
A special feature of this model is that it is not based on any other language model available in the world. This means that VinAI did not revise a large existing language model but created PhoGPT from scratch. Thanks to that, VinAI's research team can apply many different methods to optimize this model for the Vietnamese language – something that is very difficult to do if only using a foreign model and editing it. to suit the Vietnamese language.
How effective is PhoGPT?
PhoGPT is considered a version of ChatGPT designed specifically for Vietnamese with a large data language model of 7.5 billion parameters, based on the Transformer decoding platform. This model is trained from scratch, using the most advanced methods today (such as Flash Attention, AliBi to extrapolate context length).
When compared with the world's other major language models. The results show that PhoGPT ranks second only to ChatGPT in most evaluation categories, and outperforms other open source models.
