Just send a message via Messenger or Zalo, SMS, if the recipient uses Iphone or Ipad, MACOS will immediately freeze the application if you open the message to view. One such text bomb went viral this week, and Apple has yet to release a new update to fix the issue.

What is Text Bomb?
Character-based (aka text bomb) is not a new bug for the iOS devices. In the past, there have been many devices with this error already.
First appearing on Discord and Telegram groups earlier this week (according to The Verge), the bug can cause problems even if you just turn notifications on. You can see what it does with iPhones running the latest version (iOS 12.4.1) in Youtuber ThingsApplePro’s tweet below.
As reported by MacRumors, there is a new character association bug with Italian flag and a few Sindhi language can cause (freeze) devices of various Apple devices when the user receives a text bomb as a message.
The character-link bug can affect almost all Apple devices, including iPhones, MacBooks, Apple Watches, and Apple TVs. However, iOS seems to be facing this problem because of app crashes.
According to a Reddit post, the bug appeared via text messages on the messaging app Telegram and later on other apps like Twitter, WhatsApp, and iMessage.
ThingsApplePro posted a video on Twitter where it can be seen that the bug works even without the Italian flag and causes the system to malfunction.
If you get a message with special characters, chances are your iPhone will crash and restart.
This is the first time when the character bug affects Apple products. In the past, we have seen the “Telugu” bug that also caused Apple devices to experience the same error.
Errors like this have appeared in the past few years. For example, back in 2015, there was a text string that was infected with a virus and spread everywhere for users. Basically, when you send a string of characters to another iPhone user, it causes their Messages app and sometimes the entire iOS to crash.
The problem seems to have been fixed in the version iOS 13.4.5 beta, but that update isn’t available to everyone yet. In general, because Apple comes up with a solution too quickly, it is not optimal for everyone, so we should expect iOS 13.4.2 or even iOS 13.4.5 will be released to everyone to fix the bug.
One of the biggest problems with character-based bugs is that there is no way to stop the system from getting rid of the puzzle problem until a new patch is available.
Apple is expected to release software updates for character bugs. Until then, I advise you not to open any notifications with such characters.
How does Text Bomb work?
Sindhi is a language spoken in Pakistan and India, written in a variety of scripts, including the Persian and Arabic alphabets (Hindi). This particular error seems to be related to Persian-Arabic characters.
A feature of the Arabic-based writing system is the ability to enter other characters by typing smaller script elements (like Vietnamese, that’s fine if you want to type accents) at the top and below the main characters in the sentence.
If this message is displayed, it means that iOS needs to shorten the message with a dot (a”…..”)
Abbreviating these different characters, or some letters that change position or size in an unusual way, will cause your phone to process them incorrectly, resulting in it trying to access a section that doesn’t exist. in the device’s memory, eventually causing problems such as freezes or failed touch screen operations.
This explanation is based on similar text bombs in the past that used Arabic characters, such as error “Effective Power” in 2015.
How to fix Text Bomb error causing iPhone crashes
The temporary solution is until Apple releases a software update to solve this problem, is to turn off notifications on your device. Thankfully, if you get a message with a text string in it, you can reboot your device and everything should be back to normal. Or if your phone won’t reboot on its own, you can force it to do so by pressing the volume up button, then the volume down button, and then holding the side button until the Apple logo appears.

The chances of you getting this error are pretty rare. Most likely a friend of yours will try to send you such a message.
To avoid problems, turn off notifications for your messaging app via Settings -> Notifications, then select the app and set the allow top notifications slider to disable notifications.
Apple is working on this, as the most recent beta for iOS 13.4.5 doesn’t seem to get this error. Hopefully Apple will be rolling out an update in the next few days.
