Mircosoft has just released the N-Tier architecture test. You can create 4h Azure VPS with 14Gb RAM and 4 Core. After 4 hours is up, you can continue to recreate it for further use, but the old data will be lost. In essence, this is a Lab for you to learn about N-tier architecture. But you can use the Lab to work for 4 hours. It’s a fair deal, isn’t it?

First, you also need to learn about the concept of N-tier architecture. Imagine you work for a small to medium sized company with a public web application deployed in place. Your server is old and operating at almost full capacity. Instead of investing more in hardware, you will switch to Azure. You want the benefits of cloud hosting to minimize installation time. Furthermore, the application layered and deployed on the N-tier architecture. You want to make sure you can scale, manage, and secure your applications now and in the future. You can create an Azure 4h VPS to practice N-Tier for free.
What is an N-tier (N-Tier) architecture?
An N-tier architecture divides an application into logical layers and physical layers. N represents the number of physical layers the application is divided into, which usually correlates with the number of layers. We can have a two-tier (client-server) or even a five-tier architecture, although it’s common and often best to keep the number of tiers to four or less.
In all N-tier architectures, three-story architecture is the most popular. A typical three-layer application has: the presentation layer, the application layer, or the middle layer, and the data layer. This is the most common N-tier model, and for the rest of this module we’ll refer to the three-tier model with each tier running a single application layer and refer to them as synonyms of layers.
When to use N-tier architecture
You can apply N-tier architecture to your company when you encounter the following cases:
- Small and medium web applications
- Migrate on-premises apps to Azure with minimal refactoring
- Leverage a developer’s skill set and capabilities with on-premises development experience.
In this lab, you will learn about:
- Identify features, limitations, and considerations of the N-story architectural style
- Identify use cases when N-tier architecture is appropriate
- Model N-tier architecture implementation
- Identify methods and resources to improve N-tier architecture
Instructions to create a 4h Azure VPS with 14Gb RAM 4 CPUs
To create an Azure 4h VPS, go to the page Deploy N Tier Architecture by Microsoft. Proceed to sign in with your Microsoft account under instructions for creating VPS 1h ram 7Gb. Click the button Active Sandbox to initialize an Azure environment for an account:
In the Azure Cloud Shell pane on the right, Copy the following code to create an Azure 4h VPS with 14Gb of RAM and 4 CPUs.
Note:
- In the section
--resource-group fd5431c9-7be9-4540-a823-1d036a862415 \
you must use the correct resource-group for your account. See picture below:
Code to create VPS Azure 4h Ram 14Gb 4 CPU
az vm create \
--name myVM \
--resource-group fd5431c9-7be9-4540-a823-1d036a862415 \
--image Win2012Datacenter \

--location southeastasia \
--admin-username anonyviet \
--admin-password AnonyViet@123@
You change the Username and Password in the last 2 lines as you like.
If you want to change the light of another operating system, change it in the section --image
to another operating system name.

How to access Website using Internet Explorer on Windows Server
On Windows Server, Internet Explorer is pre-installed for you to access the Web. But for security reasons, all websites are blocked from accessing. You need to open the feature IE Enhanced Security Configuration and Off 2 lines go.
Now you can use Internet Explorer to download Chrome to surf the Web.
