Parrot Security OS is a very stable Linux operating system for doing Hack or Pentest – unlike Kali Linux – Parrot OS is not only for hacking purposes but also suitable for your daily work. So in this article, I will guide you to install Parrot OS on your laptop or PC to completely switch to using Linux.

Note: This is a direct installation on a laptop or PC, not a dual boot. In case you want to Dual Boot with Windows 10, I will guide you in the next post.
Requirements to install Parrot OS on Laptop
- USB drive with at least 8GB capacity. You can also use an SD or MicroSD card, as long as your laptop has that port.
- Download files Parrot OS ISO. I recommend that you download the Parrot Security Mate ISO. (If you can’t access the Parrot web, then Download Parrot Security OS backed up by AnonyViet)
- Load Etcher to create bootable USB.
Preparing to install Parrot OS
After meeting the above requirements, we will create a bootable USB to install Parrot OS on the laptop.
- Plug the USB into the laptop and open Etcher. Etcher will automatically detect your USB. If you want to change USB then you can press the . button “Change” and select the USB you want.
- Select “select images” to open the downloaded Parrot OS ISO file.
- When you are absolutely sure that you have selected the correct USB drive and Parrot OS ISO file, press the . button “Flash!”.
Note: This will permanently erase everything you have on the USB drive and you can’t get it back. Back up the contents of the USB if necessary.
Install Parrot OS on Laptop
After creating the USB, we will come to the main part of this article which is to install Parrot OS on the Laptop.
Warning: The following steps will follow the clean install method. It will delete EVERYTHING on your hard drive! Include any version of Windows you have installed and replace it with a fresh install of Parrot 4.9 operating system. Only do this when you have parental supervision or guidance from an adult.
Step 1: Boot your computer from the newly created Parrot OS USB.
Plug the Parrot OS USB into your computer and boot it up. As soon as the computer screen appears, quickly press the key to the laptop’s boot menu. Depending on the manufacturer, the keys to the boot menu are specified differently. You can find that key in the article this.
On the next screen, for this calculator, pressing the F9 key will open the menu Boot Device Options. There, I will choose the Parrot OS USB drive as the boot device.
You can search for the boot menu key by google the keyword “boot menu + laptop name”.
Step 2: On Parrot’s Boot screen. Select “Install” -> “Install with GTK GUI” and press Enter.
Step 3: Select the language for your system.
Step 4: Select a geographic location.
Step 5: Select a keyboard layout.
Step 6: Set password for ROOT account.
It is the same as the password for the admin account on Windows, so don’t forget this password, or it won’t be a problem.
Step 7: Next, you need to create a standard user account for the system.
You will use this account for daily activity on Parrot.
Create a username for the standard user.
Set a password for the standard user.
Step 8: Set the system time zone.
Step 9: Now the installer will launch the disk partitioner and give you 4 options. Select Guided – use entire disk.
Select the drive where you want to install Parrot OS. Only the hard disks on your laptop are listed here.
Select the drive you want to partition.
I recommend you choose the option separate /home partition. Because this will divide your user files and system files on separate partitions, you can upgrade your system freely without the risk of losing your documents, photos, videos and any other files. any other user file.
Review your disk partition configuration. If yes, then click Finish partitioning and write changes to disk.
Select “No” on the next screen to skip the Swap partition setup.
The system will now write the partition changes to the drive. This is the last time you change your mind, because you cannot reverse format the disk. If you think carefully, then choose “Yes” and press enter.
Step 10: Select “Yes” to install the GRUB bootloader.
Select the drive of your laptop or PC to install GRUB on.
Step 11: Finally, give the installer some time to perfect things… and ta-da! Complete installation of Parrot Security OS on the computer!
Congratulation! You have just successfully installed Parrot OS version 4.10 on your laptop or PC as the main operating system.
Log in to the machine using the username and password you set for the standard user account you created during installation.
