How to download and install ExplorerBlurMica
Step 1: First, let's download ExplorerBlurMica Go to your computer and unzip the file.
Step 2: Move the extracted folder to a convenient location, such as Documents or drive C, for easy access when needed.
Step 3: In the unzipped folder, find the file register and right click, then select Run as administrator.
Step 4: Open Task Manager with a key combination Ctrl + Shift + Esc. Find the process explorer.exeright click on it and select Restart. This step will apply a matte or acrylic effect to the Explorer background.
Now, when you open Explorer, you will see that the Explorer background has a translucent and acrylic effect. The default is a white background with light transparency, but you can completely change the color and transparency in the configuration file to suit your preferences.
How to uninstall ExplorerBlurMica
Uninstalling ExplorerBlurMica is very easy, just like installing it:
- Find files uninstall in the downloaded folder, right click and select Run as administrator.
- After pressing OKExplorer will automatically restart and return to the original default interface.

Inside the extracted folder, you will see a config file. Open this file with any text editor to start customizing it to your liking.

Select effect – Effect
ExplorerBlurMica provides three background effects for Explorer: Blur, Acrylic and Mica. To select the effect, change the value in the script as follows:
- effect=0 is Blur
- effect=1 is Acrylic
- effect=2 is Mica
- effect=3 is Blur (Clear)
Enter the value you want and save the configuration file to apply the changes. Note:
- Blur is available on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 (22H1).
- Acrylic supports both Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Mica is only available on Windows 11.
- Blur (Clear) is available from Windows 11 (22H2) onwards.
Adjust border thickness – Small Border
On Windows 10, the Blur effect (effect=0) will display a thick glass border around Explorer. You can customize this border:
- smallBorder=true to enable borders.
- smallBorder=false to turn off borders.
Show line – Show Line
This option determines whether to show or hide the divider next to the navigation, preview, and details panes in Explorer:
- showLine=true to show the separation line.
- showLine=false to hide the separator line.
Dark Ribbon
On Windows 10 when using light mode, the Explorer ribbon background and text color may not display correctly. You can switch to dark mode to fix it:
- darkRibbon=true does not enable dark mode for the ribbon.
- darkRibbon=false turns on dark mode for the ribbon, making colors appear clearer and more harmonious.
Clear address bar background – Clear Address
This feature helps you remove the background of the address bar in Explorer, bringing an airy and clear view to the interface. When activated, you will be fully immersed in the effects without being interrupted by the address bar. To customize:
- clearAddress=true to remove the address bar background.
- clearAddress=false to show the background of the address bar.
Note: If you use StartAllBack, uncheck “Classic search box”, otherwise this feature will be overridden.
Clear scrollbar background – ClearBarBg
This feature will hide the scrollbar background and adjust it to harmonize with the selected effect. When turned on, you can fully enjoy Explorer effects without being obscured by scroll bars.
- clearBarBg=true to hide the scrollbar background.
- clearBarBg=false to show the scrollbar background.
Color customization – RGBA
In section [light] and [dark]you can customize the interface colors with the RGBA color palette. RGBA represents the values red (r), green (g), blue (b) and transparency (alpha). Values from 0 to 255 for each color component help you create a unique color for Explorer.
