User Access Control (UAC) in Windows 10 can be frustrating, especially when you frequently run programs that require Admin rights. Thankfully, there is a way to create a Shortcut that turns off UAC on Windows 10 without prompting you for UAC. For each software you want to run as admin but do not want to appear UAC, create a separate Shortcut.

This way still ensures that other Apps still need UAC permissions, except for the Apps for which you have created the Shortcut.

This trick works by setting scheduled tasks to run the application in Admin mode. Then you can create shortcut on Desktop, it will ignore UAC when you click on shortcut.

Although, you can disable the UAC prompts altogether, it is a foolish move as it only warns when there are computer security problems.

Because running the Task Scheduler (scheduled task) requires you to go through UAC to set up the task.

Use Task Scheduled to create a Shortcut to turn off UAC on Windows

Creating a Shortcut to turn off UAC on Windows 10 for each software will help you run the Admin rights of that software without having to appear a notice of UAC. This way still ensures that other Apps still need UAC permissions, except for the Apps for which you have created the Shortcut.

To open the Task Scheduler, press Startimport Task Scheduler Enter the search box and select the first result that appears.

Once the Task Scheduler is open, click “Create Task” from the right panel.

Give this task a simple name and preferably no spaces. Then check the box “Run with Highest Privileges”. You can also write it a short description if you want, but it’s not necessary.

By default, if you set up a task on your laptop, the Task Scheduler will not run the task unless your laptop is plugged in. If you cannot disable this option, when you open the shortcut, the task will run in the “Queued” state until you plug in the power.

Switch to tabs “Conditions” and deselect the place “Start the Task Only If the Computer Is on AC Power”.

Next, switch to the “Actions” tab and then click “New” to create a new task for the task.

Click “Browse” to find the software you want to run when the task starts.

Find the application location and click “Open”.

Click “OK” to save the changes.

Click “OK” again to finish creating the task.

That’s all you need to do for this part. If you want to make sure the task runs as expected, select “Task Scheduler Library”, right-click the task, and then click “Run”.

When the tasks are working properly, close the Task Scheduler, and remember the name you used for the task.

How to create Shortcut to run Task

Right-click on the Desktop and select New > Shortcut.

Then enter the command below and replace with the name of the task you created:

schtasks /run /tn "<taskName>"

Click “Next” after you have entered the command.

Give the Shortcut a name and click “Finish”.

Now, on your Desktop, the newly created Shortcut will appear. It will run the task as Admin without prompting you for UAC when you open it.

However, if you want to tweak it a bit further, right-click on the Shortcut and then select “Properties”.

Because Shortcut runs commands in Command Prompt, when opening Shortcut, a CMD window also opens and closes before the software is enabled. If you want, you can set the CMD window to be minimized.

In the “Run” section, select “Minimized”.

Next click “Change Icon” to change the icon you like.

If you get the message, just click “Next”.

Now, select the stack of icons that Windows provides or click “Browse” and select the icon of the software you want to run when opening the task. Then click “Open”.

Select the icon and press “OK” to save the changes.

Click “OK” again.

Now you have a Shortcut that looks good, you can even open it without UAC anymore.

What is Trello?

How to use Trello

Create boards for project management

The Trello board is where you create and organize all the details of your project, such as the tasks that make up the overall project, task deadlines, roadmaps, and more. The board is also where you invite your team to collaborate. work in the project.

So when you create an account, the first thing you need to do is create a board for the project. The free version allows you to create up to 10 tables per workspace.

To create a board, log in to your account and then click “Create” in the upper-right corner of the window. Next, click “Create Board” from the menu.

That’s it, you’ve created your Trello board.

Invite more members

If your Trello board is for personal use, you can skip this step. If you want others to have access to your board, such as other members of your team, you can invite them.

To invite someone to collaborate with you on a project, click the “Invite” button in the header menu of the board.

A pop-up window will appear. Enter the email of the person you want to invite in the text box, then click the blue “Send Invitation” button. You can also create a link and share it so everyone can get to the board.

Add lists to better organize tasks

After you’ve created the board (and added members if you want), it’s time to add all the project tasks. However, before you can start creating new tasks, you need to create a “List”. Think of the list as your project roadmap. Your roadmap doesn’t have to be complicated — it can be as simple as “To Do”, “In Progress” and “Done”.

Enter the name of your list in the text box, then click the blue “Add List” button.

Once your first list is created, a gray “Add Another List” button will appear to the right of your list. Click on it to create another list.

You can create as many lists as needed for your project. If you need to rearrange your lists, simply click and drag them to a new location.

Once the list has been created, you can start adding tasks.

Create and manage tasks

In Trello, your tasks will be created on “Cards”. Think of the cards as sticky notes. That’s where you’ll write down everything you need to know about a particular task.

You can create a tag in any of your lists. Just click “Add a Card” in the list you want to add the card to.

Give your card a title. Then, click the blue “Add Card” button.

Your card has been created. If you click on the card, a window will appear. Here you can add additional details to the card, such as a description of the task, add a checklist for the task, set a deadline, upload attachments, and more.

Depending on your progress on the task, you may want to move the card to a different list. For example, if you’ve completed the task, you might want to move the card to the “Completed” list. To do so, simply click and drag the card to the list you want.

Increase work efficiency with Power-Up

Automation is great, but not everyone knows how to automate tasks. However, being able to schedule a task for a computer at a specific time is equally as good. So in this article, I will show you how to schedule tasks using the at command in Linux.

What is the at command?

at is a Linux command that allows you to schedule jobs for a specific date and time. It’s automation made easy from Terminal.

How to install

On Linux, the at command may already be installed by default. You can verify it is installed with the command at -V:

$ at -V
at version x.y.z

If you can’t find the at command, most modern Linux distributions provide an at command installation package for you.

You may also need to start at daemon, called atd. On most Linux systems, you use the systemctl command to enable services and allow them to automatically start from now on:

$ sudo systemctl enable --now atd

How to schedule an interactive task with the at . command

You first need to create an event at some point and then you specify what you want to happen.

For example, try scheduling by creating a task for the next few minutes. Just do a simple task. To exit the terminal, press Ctrl + D on your keyboard.

$ at 11:20 AM
warning: commands will be executed using /bin/sh
at> echo "hello world" > ~/at-test.txt
at> <EOT>
job 3 at Mon Jul 26 11:20:00 2021

As you can see, at uses intuitive and natural time definitions. You don’t need to know the 24 hours or convert to UTC. In general, you can use any time notation such as noon, 1:30 PM, 13:37,… to describe the moment you want.

Wait a few minutes and then see if the word “hello world” has been written to the file at-text.txt using the cat command.

$ cat ~/at-test.txt
hello world

How to schedule a task with the at . command

You don’t need to write dance on terminal to schedule jobs with at. You can use the echo or printf command instead. In this example, I will use now to delay that task for 1 minute.

$ echo "echo 'hello again' >> ~/at-test.txt" | at now +1 minute

After a minute, you need to confirm the task has been completed with the cat command.

$ cat ~/at-test.txt
hello world
hello again

Time options

The at command is quite easy to manipulate with time options. You can choose between several formats, depending on which is most convenient for you:

• YYMMDDhhmm[.ss] (abbreviation for year, month, day, hour, minute and second)
• CCYYMMDDhhmm[.ss] (full year, month, day, hour, minute and second)
• now
• midnight
• noon
• teatime (4 PM)
• AM
• PM

Times and dates can be absolute or add a plus sign (+) to make them relative to now.

• minutes

• years

Date and time syntax

The at command is less comfortable when dealing with dates and times. The time must be entered first, then the date, even though that date defaults to the current date and only scheduled tasks for some future date.

Eg:

$ echo "rsync -av /home/tux me@myserver:/home/tux/" | at 3:30 AM tomorrow
$ echo "/opt/batch.sh ~/Pictures" | at 3:30 AM 08/01/2022
$ echo "echo hello" | at now + 3 days

View task queue

You can view your scheduled jobs on Linux with the atq command:

$ atq
10 Thu Jul 29 12:19:00 2021 a tux
9  Tue Jul 27 03:30:00 2021 a tux

To remove a job from the queue, use the atrm command. To remove job #7:

$ atrm 7
$ atq

What is Task Manager?

Windows Task Manager is a system monitoring utility, which means it allows you to manage all the processes running on your computer and view other important information. You can sort these processes by usage to see what tasks are taking up computer resources.

Task Manager also has plenty of other data, making it a useful place to go when you need to check something about your PC. It is not the only utility you need, but it is the first place you go when you want to manage software.

How to open Task Manager

You may be familiar with opening Task Manager with Ctrl + Alt + Delete. However, this is not the most efficient way to open it in modern versions of Windows.

This shortcut is a special Windows shortcut to open the Windows Security page, which contains shortcuts to lock your PC, log out, open Task Manager, etc. It is also used for secure login, as only Windows has it. can respond to this particular shortcut.

Instead, when you want to open Task Manager, the fastest way is to press Ctrl + Shift + Escape on your keyboard. In case you don’t like the shortcut, right click on an empty spot on the taskbar and select Task Manager. After opening Task Manager, you can see a simplified interface, with only a list of running applications. You can select an application and press End task to end it, but you’ll need to click More details to access the full Task Manager interface.

How to use Task Manager

Tab Processes

On Processes, you’ll see a list of everything running on your computer. These processes are divided into three parts when arranged according to Name:

• Apps is whatever program you have open and currently running.
• Background processes are tasks that are active but not explicitly open as an application. For example, you can see cloud storage services or background apps like clipboard managers here.
• Windows processes contains the system services that the operating system needs to run properly.

Click any of the header fields at the top, like Name CPU CPU, to sort using that information. Each header shows the total amount of resources being used, along with a breakdown by progress.

Drag to reorder these headings as you see fit. To add or hide a column, right-click anywhere in the header and select the headings you want to see.

Right-click on any process to see its options. Since Task Manager groups all the processes for an application into one list, you’ll need to click the little arrow to display and manage them individually.

Useful items in this menu include End task to turn off unresponsive apps, Open file location to see the location of the process on the computer and Search online for more information about the processes.

Performance tab

Next, on Performanceyou’ll see graphs representing different resources like CPU, RAM, and GPU.

Each field here also contains information about the hardware, which is useful for checking your PC’s specs. For example, on the CPU page, you’ll see your processor model listed at the top, along with the field Up time indicates the amount of time since the PC last restarted.

If you want to keep track of these while doing something else, right-click on the list of items on the left and select Summary view. Then you can keep it open when playing games, doing heavy work.

Tab App History

App History provides historical data about the resources used by the application. You’ll see the total CPU usage time your app spends, along with network usage. Data covers the last 30 days.

Unfortunately, this panel is limited to Windows 10 Store apps. However, it can still tell you apps are working too much in the background.

Startup tab

Startup is one of the most useful tabs of Task Manager. It lists all the applications that run as soon as you log into Windows.

Applications often install themselves to run at startup, even if you don’t enable them. While this will be more convenient for the programs you use often, having too many unnecessary startup applications will slow down the startup process and waste resources.

You can disable startup apps by right clicking on it and selecting Disabled.

Tab Users

Tab Users only useful if you currently have multiple accounts logged into your PC. You will see resource usage for each user, similar to the Processes tab. Click the arrow next to a user to expand all of their processes, where you can get more information or end them.

Alternatively, you can right-click another user to force them out.

Tab Details

Advanced users will appreciate the tab Details; it expands on the information presented in Processes. By default, you can see the process ID (PID), the initiating user, and the process name for each item.

When you right click on a process, you will see more options such as setting priority or ending the whole process tree. But most normal users don’t need to worry about this. If you need more information than tab Processes available, refer to this tab.

Services tab

Tab Services is a stripped-down version of the Services utility, which you can open by typing “services” into the Start Menu. Services are background processes that Windows or other system utilities run to handle various tasks. For example, wuauserv is related to Windows Update.

File, Options, and View

By choosing File > Run new task, you can start a process on your PC (similar to Run). This is useful when you need to close and reopen a Windows Explorer task. Just type “explorer.exe” into this menu to relaunch Explorer.

In Optionsyou can change some small behavior of Task Manager. Always on top will keep the Task Manager above all other windows, which is useful if you need to see it for troubleshooting. Use Set default tab to select the menu that will open when you launch Task Manager.

Finally in Viewyou can force refresh with Refresh now and choose refresh frequency with Update speed. Turn off Group by type if you don’t want to tab Processes use the sections above. Expand all and Collapse all will change all process groups at once.
