Security researchers with VPNmentor have found a database containing hundreds of thousands of stolen Facebook login credentials. The login information including Facebook user and password was hacked, this is like a widespread phishing campaign targeting Facebook users with fake login pages (Phishing).

How are thousands of Facebook passwords hacked?

Researchers point out that Hackers used websites phishing to attack for Facebook users, such as: see who visits your facebook often, or log in to facebook to watch the movie “pig” …

The victim will log in with the username and password and think that they are signing up for a service or playing a game without knowing behind that has given the account to the Hacker.

The large number of users in the database is shocking enough, but the fraudsters made a serious mistake in the process of stealing their data: They forgot to put the Password in the treasure trove of stolen data.

Anyone with a web browser can easily access the password-packed database of millions of user profiles. VPNMentor researchers believe these accounts were used to trick even more victims into participating in a crypto scam.

Security researchers reported the hacked Facebook Password database to the vendor. Hacker’s database is no longer accessible and Facebook is forced to reset passwords for affected users. If recently, you were forced by Facebook to change your password, then be confident that your account has been hacked before.

What you need to do to protect your Facebook account

On the computer:

Fast access security page. Or follow the steps:

1. Click arrow pointing down at the top right of the Facebook home page.
2. Click Settings & Privacynext is Setting .
3. Click Security and Login.
4. Click Editing Besides Change the password .
5. Enter your current password and enter a new password. Use complex combinations of letters, numbers, and symbols that won’t be easily guessed.
6. Click Save changes.

On the phone:

1. Open the Facebook app and tap three dashes icon. On iOS, the icon will be in bottom right. On Android, the icon will be on same right .
2. Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacythen tap Setting .
3. Click Security and Loginthen press Change the password .
4. Enter your current password and enter a new password. Use complex combinations of letters, numbers, and symbols that won’t be easily guessed.
5. Click Save changes.

For added security, AnonyViet also recommends that you enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for your Facebook account. Once 2FA is set up, you’ll automatically know when someone tries to log in without your permission.

For future safety

• Never log into your Facebook account other than facebook.com.
• Whenever you are asked to log in to your account, look at your browser’s address bar. If the URL does not include “Facebook.com” , it could be a phishing site and the hacked Facebook password will fall into the hands of the hacker.
• Avoid clicking on any links sent to you via email. If you click on the link from the email that takes you to the Facebook login page, close your window. This is a red flag for scam sites.
